Rotterdam Chinatown

鹿特丹 / The most diverse street of Rotterdam / 唐人街

About us

You can call us Chinese Dutch—born and raised in the Netherlands—but our love for Chinese culture and cuisine flows deeply through our veins. That’s why we created this website: to share our passion for the rich Chineseness of Rotterdam.

We believe the city of Rotterdam isn’t doing enough to highlight its unique and historic connection to Chinese culture. Did you know that Rotterdam has been a sister city of Shanghai since 1979? Or that it’s home to mainland Europe’s very first Chinatown? This extraordinary heritage deserves to be celebrated and cherished.

Rotterdam’s Chinese community is incredibly diverse. We come from mainland China but also places like Suriname, Vietnam, Malaysia, Indonesia, Hong Kong, and beyond. This vibrant cultural mix is woven into the streets of Rotterdam—most notably through its incredible food scene.

Let us show you our city through our eyes, guided by our stories, flavors, and traditions. Visit our pop-up at West Kruiskade 3:

We are Fenmei, Marsha, Ruijun, Lili, Yan, Jin, TianZhao, Lee and many others. Welcome to the yellow heart of Rotterdam.
